There's several wildflower farms heading from Austin to Fredericksburg, just before you hit town. Usually have a lot out in the fields that you can see from the highway, and some good prices on seeds...

Wildseed Farm is on 290 west of Fredericksburg. I remember when they moved in and started setting up their fields. It was so fun to watch!

I did a really dumb thing last year. Purchased a big bag of wildflower at Costco. As per usual I scattered them everywhere in the many beds I have. OK. Didn't keep the bag. Have no idea what is planted. Afraid to pull anything up that appears to be a NOID weed because it could be a wildflower. Oh well, I love a good mystery.

LOL Christi! Will definitely be fun in your garden!!

Hey, Steph. I have always been like a barrel of monkeys. No organization. Started my obsession with wildflower (or any kind of flower) about 7 years ago. Every Spring is better than the last. Thank you God.

Hehe...I did the same thing last year, and some things are starting to pop up, but I have no idea what they are. Can't wait until they bloom. That is part of the fun for me!

I did he same but I actually had individual species. Even so, I still can't remember what is what.

I've got things comng up in areas where I had some new things that I thought I had lost to the drought. Hope springs eternal and I'm afraid if I pull it up it will be something good. Speaking of the Wildseed Farm, I'm headed that way next week. My mom is in Marble Falls and we're going to visit for Spring Break. Eat a little jager schnitzel at Altdorf's while we're at it. Also going to Backbone Nursery outside Marble Falls, another one of my favorites. Lots of Texas natives and adapted plants. I love to go just to watch all the hummingbirds and butterflies.

East Texas, TX

we love us some Altdorf's....yummm.......hmmmm.....hadn't planned on going to the hill country this season, but, who knows. also didn't know about the nursery at marble falls....so many nurseries...so little time. have fun! We love wildseed farm...usually find a few things to cart back to east texas. One visit we were there...I was bending over looking at a plant I had never seen before...a lady next to me was bending over looking at it...we were talking about it back and forth without ever looking at each other...I happened to think "hmmm....I know that voice"...and looked over and it was another nurse I worked with...we had a good laugh, lol.

Yeah, I've got things coming up that I planted the previous winter. Of course, I thought they were dead and planted new things in the same place this winter. Survival of the fittest, I guess.

I just saw a hummer today outside my kitchen window. I guess it's looking for the feeder. Doesn't it seem a little early?

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Probably a scout.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I didn't know they did that. It amazes me that they can remember from year to year where the feeder is. I wonder why they scoot when they just fight over it anyway. LOL
