USDA new Planting Zone Map

Melfa, VA(Zone 8a)

Has anyone checked it out? My new zone is a bit warmer and having been in zone 7b and now 8a I can think about trading for plants that were off the map for me.
You can find your new zone here:

I am changing the zone that I have on my info page. You might want to check yours too if you have been on the border of two different zones.

Wow, looks like I moved from Z5a into 6a, almost dreams come true, lol

Jackson, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks for the new hardiness/plant map. My zone stayed the same. :( I am surprised as our temps. for years have been more moderate.

I can't get the link to work and when I typed in the search for USDA new plant hardiness zone the article comes up but the map won't.....

shihtzumom...Pearisburg is 6b. I checked 2005 map, the old3er version of the map, and you were actually in 6b then as well. I al3ways thought B'burg was in zone 7 until I started checking out the zones by zip code on the USDA maps.
BTW...we have moved into our new house on the shore and are seldom in our old house in Blacksburg.
Hope you are doing well!

Deb,
I was going to ask about that. Are you selling the Bburg house? You told me last fall to come get what sedums I wanted but I just never made it. I wasn't being ungrateful just mindless.

I always thought I was 7a/6b and Eastern Giles County is really where I think it cuts off on zones. Hope you are doing well and thanks for checking my zone. I don't know why it won't open for me.

Yes, we are selling. We go back to get it ready to sell. have gotten a guy (does construction and lives on down Craig Ck) to do the painting for us. We hope to get it on the market soon. We are allowing people to come when we are there to look at it if they are interested in it before it goes up. Price more negotiable that way. Jack is going over in a couple of days but if you would like, next time I go I can check to see what there is left and you are welcome to take the extras. I could call you then.
If you go to the USDA zone maps...I checked both the old and the new...you can put your zip code in and it will give you the planting zone for your town. I always thought we were warmer in B'burg, too but I al3ways just went by the zones I had seen in plant catalogs, etc. I would think the USDA maps would be more accurate.

Deb,
I couldn't get the link to open. I'll try again. Dmail me when you come back and I'll see what you have left. The sedums are popping up here.
