Hello everyone, I have not posted in a while but I am still heavy into wildlife photography. I post most of my shots on my facebook page (Chris Hirsch). I was at Brazos Bend State Park yesterday and got a few shots of an unusual duck. It's a Baikal Teal that is from Russia. A long way from home!

Baikal Teal
Very nice photos Chris. Thank you for sharing them... Geez, a long way from home is for sure!
Most likely as escapee from someone's pond, but a beautiful duck nonetheless.

Wow beautiful duck!
Nice capture wherever they came from.
Update....this duck is mostly Baikal Teal but it turns out it is a mutt. It has some other duck mixed in. Maybe I should name it! :-)
My guess would be a wigeon for the other parent (whether Eurasian, American, or Chiloe, no idea!).

Well, it seems this is a Blue-winged/Green-winged Teal hybrid. It has been theorized that all Teal evolved from the Baikal Teal and carry the gene that creates the head coloring.
