It looks very interesting, I have never seen it in person.

That's stunning, have you decided if you're going to seed it? If you do will you keep notes for the rest of us, please :0)

Haven't bought the seeds. They are suppose to germinate without cold strat. so I still might. I will post how it does if I decide to start some.

In went on a big penstemon kick a few years, didn't try P. ambiguus tho. I winter sowed them all in milk jugs and I don't remember any of them being fussing to germinate. Getting them to like my soil was another matter. Now I just love them vicariously through other's photos. If you get them, I'll be counting on you to supply plenty of photos.lol

What kind of soil do you have? I planted a hybrid last year and it was lovely in the spring/early summer but does not to appear to have come back. It is near a pond and that soil can hold some moisture even though its a raised bed.
I did breakdown and order the seeds. 3 packs of seed for 12 bucks is not a huge investment. I have a few raised beds that have sandy soil so I am hoping it is happy there.

I have sand/loam, plenty of drainage, but the east is acidic compared the south plains. (I think that's where the site said P. ambiguus is from). I think your raised bed sounds perfect for drainage.

Was your hybrid one of the large blooming forms? Those are gorgeous! I tried one from Lowe's and killed it in record time too. Brazos penstemon is short live for me, but reseeds. The best luck I had was a huge rosette of Husker's Red. It got destroyed when a water line broke underneath it. If the penstemons could grow feet and run away from me...it would be a wise decision.lol
