I have asked if any one has this Orchid Cactus.
What I would really like is to have this Plant Identified.
OK, it's not even a Cactus but a Succulent.
Can anyone please tell me what it is ?

I don't know what I would do without your help.
I was given this piece today and am about to plant it.
It has small Flower spikes on it. (the size of a green pea)
Will they continue to grow ?
I needed to reduce this Picture before I could add it here.

Hard to say. Mine are at the same stage now...about a month early. If the weather changes, again, they may drop their buds. The plants will also shed the buds if they are too small to support flowers yet. Cross your fingers! If this is an unrooted cutting, the buds will probably drop, but at least you know you have a mature cutting.
Would it make a difference if I grew it on in water for a time ?
The Flowers are so incredibly Big for such a thin Succulent.
I've never tried them in water, so I don't know. I have seen some of my neighbors root them in water, but I don't speak the language, so I can't ask them.LOL!
You mean there are people living in America who don't speak English ?

Very much appears to be Epiphyllum Oxypetalum if judged by the stem structure. ;I would think the budding would be new stems due to location and design,. Here is the flower that goes with it. I would root it in a soil/wood chip/perlite medium in order for it not to rot. Keep it in open air for about a week before putting it in the soil mixture. bob

It has been in water for 4 days already.
So I will get some more and try it your way.
The buds are now three times bigger than my first Picture.
So they might be ok in the water.
Only time will tell I guess.

The piece I am touching in this Picture is the piece I took home last week.
Today I went and got another piece.
I will try the soil/wood chip/perlite medium in order for it not to rot.
And I'll keep it in open air for about a week before putting it in the soil mixture.

This is the size of the Flower Spikes today.
More than 3 times bigger than two days ago.
This makes me believe it will grow roots in the water.

The Flower spikes are more than 50 mm long.
And still going strong.

You go, girl!, but please don't call them orchids. They are epiphyitic cactus, not orchids.

LOL! I won't get in to the arguments for and against "common names" v "botanical" names, but you will have a hard time doing any research on your plants if you look up orchid.

It was a typo error on my part sorry.

So I decided to find out a bit more about this Orchid Cactus on Yahoo.
I was totally blown away to find there are thirteen thousand different types of this cactus.
And there are many more being created by Botanists every year.

Kell: Looking at your picture I am thinking those are in fact blooms coming on your plants. I did't realize that you are in Austraiia and in the height of your blooming season! If they are blooms, they do not resemble Oxy blooms. I can't wait to watch them develop and reveal more. bob

The flower spikes are about 75 mm long this morning.
I'll take another Picture during morning tea.

The Parent Plant is only 5mm ahead of my cuttings.
So the amputation appears to have had no short term affect at all.

Well !!! this morning my question was answered by Mother Nature.
The pink flower buds had dropped off. † † †
Because of the lack of any other answer.
I can only put it down to one thing.
The small piece I cut off only had enough internal juice/food to look after one bud.
So It discarded all the others.
In this case there were 3 buds discarded.
The one that remains is looking great today.
The cutting in the water has not dropped any buds and none have turned pink.
So there may be an answer to my dilemma on how to propagate them right there.

Just took this Picture of the one good Flower Spike still remaining.
The three dropped Flowers are lying around on the potting soil.

Took this Picture this morning of the parent plant.
I have not noticed these two spent Flower buds before.
I wonder how old they are ?
And there is one pink bud at the very top just left of centre.
So I don't feel too bad about my pink buds. ^_^

Now that I am taking much more notice of these Orchid Cactus.
I noticed these much bigger lumps on the Leaves.
I can only guess they are the FRUIT ?
I just cut off 2 leaves from the Parent Plant with these cute little presents on them.
I will now wait till they gift their contents to me.

This is this leafs total length.
Approx 23" long.
May be lack of light, it faces east so gets morning sun....yes, originally I had it in the bathtub in the master bedroom 'cause I had no other place to fit it then it cut off the light there & my husband was annoyed so I put it in our unheated guest bedroom on a table.....it's still sending out those feelers all over the place.....they all are getting leaves on them so I'm just taking a wait & see attitude.....I'm also waiting to see your open blooms!!!!!
