OMG!!! Great image!!!

We usually have 3 or 4 Cardinal lobelia plants in our flower garden. The fibrant red flowers are a magnet for hummingbirds, which provide entertainment for us in the early evening as they chase each other around the plants. They are very territorial and each one seems to think all the flowers belong to only them.

The Cardinal Lobelia doesn't seem as hardy as the literature advertises though. Here in zone 8b they get to spend winter in the pump house where it doesn't freeze.

Beautiful picture!

One of my favorite perennials because the Hummers adore the blooms. In fact, I was just watching a youtube video on how to do root cuttings because I've read with root cuttings, Cardinal Flower will bloom the first year. I'd like to have more than just the three plants I have now.
