Hello, I live in philadelphia and saw this bird perched on my air conditioner on the 14th floor of an apartment building. I've been dying to know exactly what type of bird this may be. If anyone has any clues as to my dilemma I would be very appreciative.
What is this city dwelling bird?
Might be a Red-tailed Hawk, but need to see the whole bird to be sure.
Resin
I am guessing it is a Red-tailed based on the brown streaking on the breast. This is one of the field markings I use when we're flying down the road at 55mph. It's the easiest thing for me to spot if the bird is facing the right way. Do other hawks have that, Resin? I may need to try to look for other things than.
Birdnewb, I probably would have jumped out of my skin if lived where you do, especially so high up. My heart leaps when I see a hawk by our windows. The only thing we've had up close are Cooper's hawks. The others stay out a ways.
