Peanut, my Mom's cat adjusting

Titusville, FL(Zone 9b)

My Mom passed away suddenly in Feb/2011 here at my home, her cat was laying next to her when I found her.
As the EMS came in to look at my Mom I had removed Peanut, but he kept coming back in the room after 2 or 3 times I locked him in our room where he screamed and cried I knew my Mom had passed when I had touched her to awaken her I knew she was very gone...I guess Peanut did too, but he wan't ready to let go maybe? A few years ago I rescued Peanut from the jaws of a pittbull, after a few days it became reality he wasn't going to get along in my household, my Mom was living alone in the same area. I brought him over with a dish/food & potty/litter she said what is his name and I said he has no name it's up to you. She said "Peanut" his name is Peanut...they became the best of buddies. It has taken a very long time for Peanut to adjust he isn't allowed back into the room my Mom passed away in, he isn't a good community cat either so he goes out during the day where he lounges in the carport and naps in the big tree out front but never ventures out of sight. He comes in by evening and basically lives at night in the den here with the computer and the fireplace. Tonight he found a new place to take as his own so I added a towel for his comfort, on top of my gardening books on the mantle...Good Peanut!
