looking for a bush yellow summer squash

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Does anyone know of a summer squash in bush form? I am working with some raised beds for 4-H kids, at our little museum and because of limited space, I need a bush form, preferably one that bears well. If you know of a place I could buy this kind of plant, please let me know..........Betty

Aren't most yellow summer squashes bush type? The ones I have grown all have fruit around the main stem. It's the huge leaves that require so much space. Correct me if I'm wrong--

All true summer squash are bush. Some of the older zukes are huge bush (semi vining) but all modern varieties are bush. Crooknecks and straightnecks are usually smaller plants than the zucchinis. Some folks used butternut types like Trombocino as summer squash. These have extended vines but are actually winter squash.

Well, this is good news. I looked at Fedco but so far as I could tell, they sold larger lots than I need. I will look at Sandhill. Thanks so much, all of you.

Why not just pick up a pack of Crookneck at your local garden center, Walmart or box store? A delicious yellow squash, productive, and will save you money on shipping cost. Also they're OP so you can save seeds.

I didn't realize that most yellow squash was already a bush squash. I hadn't raised any for a long time. So Shoe, I will do as you said.
