What are the circumstances for the coloring of this daylily? 2010 it was in a drier and less fertile bed and the coloring was near black. 2011 and 2012, it was moved to the same side of the house but in a moister and more fertile bed. 2011 it didn't bloom but in 2012 it is purple.

They were growing in my Sister-in-law's 1/2 acre Daylily garden. It was in full sun, but I took all the images of it early in the morning.
I have no idea why yours is so light.
Kind of clay soil, but with a sprinkler system that lets them dry out in between waterings. Our weather here is different in Michigan.
She lives in zone 5a.

Well, maybe I am wrong and this one is not 'Jungle Beauty' after all. My 'Grecian Sands' seems to be different than most other people's and 'Highland Lord' always throws me off because they aren't semi double most of the time.

I got to wondering when I saw that the neighbor's daylilies are blooming and so I took a picture of them to compare.
They are exactly the same. LOL So, this is not 'Jungle Beauty'. Thanks for answering my main question though, Sandy. My tulips have all gone wild only after a year of having them. So I wonder when a flower isn't what I thought it was supposed to be.
