This is what my runs look like, the netting is hanging with ice, hope it does not break or stretch to much, hopefully the sun will shine tomorow and it will melt, everything here is covered in ice,had to put on ice picks to walk to the car this morning to go to church.
Ice Storm
I hope the sun comes out for you too but probably won't help if your weather is still below freezing. We're going down to 27 for Tuesday morning and I am 1500+?? miles south of you
Brrrr!
I can't even imagine... I'm so spoiled..
This is what its like trying to get to the coop, sheer ice and slanting downhill,I do have ice picks on my boots and that keeps me on my feet. Its going to get down to way below 0 tonight and very windy. Will have to put bigger heat lamps on mom and chicks so there water does not freeze, the others have heated waters but babies are still to little for them.
Double Brrr!
Goodness ! I thought we were cold at 19 degrees and no ice storm! I just do not for the life of me know how you can stand all that cold!! Poor chickies! We are having to fight the up and down thermometer here. Upper 20's one day and lower 60's the next. Today were going to be in the low 70's again, then rain then cold again! I wish Winter would get here , stay a while then finish up and go ! Thats why Im not in any hurry for any of my chickies to start brooding! Good luck Green!!
Its 11 out right now,the broodies are doing a good job keeping the kids warm.it goes down in the low 20`s in the coop at night. The broodies do have heat lamps to help them, they hang over the water and feed dishes so the babies can be warm while they eat.Got two more babies that hatched out and three more to go in the incbubator they will go under the broodie when they learn how to eat and drink(maybe)
