Young rooted brugs help

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I have 2 questons. Should I give my newly rooted and potted brugs any fertilizer at all. They are in my tiny greenhouse and it's fairly cool in there.
Also, I know nothing about pinching them back to make them branch more. Some do that pretty well on their own but I would like to get imput from some of you experts. I have about 30 rooting, and will sell most of them in the spring, with proceeds going to the museum.

I am no expert but I would not give fertilizer.until spring, also I would not pinch back just yet, and never pinch back the top until after it Ys but I would trim the lower parts off if I wanted a tree type brug. and not a bushy one.

I was wondering how far north you can leave out a brug with some heavy mulching? I would love to try a double one. I saw a beautiful varigated one at a botanical garden. I don't know where to purchase either :(

It would be best to wait until winter is over then go to the Brugmansi Forum and ask for cuttings above the Y, they will bloom faster, it is not good to send in the mail this late in the season.
I have to bring mine in every winter, but myself I would not leave in the ground if it gets below 45 even then I would mulch heaverly.

hmm yes you are like me just to far north to grow all the tropicals that I would like to add.
I grow over 300 dls plus hosta and iris. Gardening is a great hobby!

It sure is but very frustrating when you see plants you want and no more room in the house over winter, that is why I added a plant room, glass on three sides.

I brought several in one yr and had my sons bedroom looking like paradise!
We also got boombarded with gnats. Not good. How do you deal with those?

Soapy water and a spry bottle, I also hung thos fly catdhes up, they did pretty good.

You can use mosquito dunks about 1/4 of a piece let it float in a gallon of water that you water your plants with and the little chunks that saturate the soil wil prevent breeding. It doesn't kill adult ones. I am having that problem now, so I will try soapy water spray.
