Dear Victor, Have a wonderful day today and even have a better whole year . I am starting my "Victor List" of things to get done in the garden in 2012 today as you are my "get it done" inspiration when it comes to yard work. Here was a rainbow that must have been a day early as it appeared yesterday over the yard at 4:00 rather than on your B-day. Patti

Happy Birthday, Victor! We have the very unusual Green Flash phenomenon happening at sunset tonight, so in addition to the wishes I routinely make for special people and pets, as the sun slips over the horizon, tonight's green flash sunset is sure to be luckier than ever, and you will top my list of wishes - for a wonderful year ahead with health for you and for all of your family. It seems you guys are in need of a really good year, and your birthday just screams out for a super-duper Green Flash sighting! Hope you are having a great day!

Victor, I did a tour of the garden today and started the Victor List. Much easier for me now that I am retired. # 1 on my list is the promise to myself is that I am starting NO NEW BEDS this year. But #2- some shrub moving, #3-some major tree and shrub pruning, #4- a fat list of plants to propagate for other spots, #5 more clearing on the back hill, # 6 is to plant the intersectional peonies that are on order (coop), #7 plant the big batch of lilies that are on order (coop) # 8 move big berm of dirt that is in the woods to top dress beds, # 9 rebuild several of the stone walks to make them wider and more level, # 10 dig up a big patch of Hemerocallis and replant area .....all for now in Nantucket. Now I have to do the work.

Here are some plants in the garden today. Not sure what shrub is in bloom, but it looks like a viburnum but could it be a witch hazel. We still have a rose blooming and lots of Hellebore's about to pop. Grass is still green. Patti

You've got it, Patti! You've been on the non-Green -Flash sunset wish list a few times. :). In fact, you've all likely been on it at least once, but this Green Flash schtick is a rare occurrence. Love your Nantucket pretties collage....very nice!
