for the spring RU? I could start things now if I knew what people might want, cuttings, wintersow etc.
Is it too early for people to say what they might want
I don't know what I really want yet. I just know it will be something I don't already have LOL
I have started quite a few seeds and all are doing very well. I still have more to start. Will you be coming back up this way again? If so you might take a peek and everyones want list and see if there's something several have in common, maybe?
I haven't thought that far ahead but I do need to see what I have left to offer.
C
I would say do what you like and is easy, and don't worry about it, if you start taking requests it could drive you crazy.
I usually bring what i have the most of, and save the special plants for my closest friends.
Josephine.
I've never been to a round up. Do you have to be invited? How do they work?
No invite needed. We register for food/drinks and also list what we have to bring in terms of plants. The site for the Arlington RU has always been the same but I guess that could change. You will see the initial posting and can take it from there. Hope to see you this spring!
Cheryl
I think the answer to my question must have been, "Yes it is too early." BTW, out of the 14 or so people I recognize that participated in the RU last spring, only 4 have tradelists on DG.
If I post anything on my trade list, even if I state "for trades at RU's only," I still get requests for trades by mail. I don't do those, so I hesitate to use the trade list. Right now I don't have a clue what I'll have to share in the spring. We are still not allowed to use city water for outside watering. We've had some rain, but not anywhere near enough to break the drought. I'm planning to start some plants by seed, but it's way too soon for me to list what I might have to offer.
Patrob, we have gotten "some" rain, of course not enough to fix the 24" deficit, but we have had some good rains lately. Therefore, if there is something you would really like to have, perhaps I can start something for you. I'll be starting winter sow in late Jan and I have seeds for a lot of things. I asked the question primarily to know what I might bring to the RU that people might want. I brought a lot of what I have last year and was looking for something different I might bring this year.
I haven't started my seeds yet but plan too by next week. I don't really have a want list. My requests are always based on what others going to the RU have.
is it really too early to start seeds?? I don't have room nor the light to do so, so I think I will wait.
I know I'll have TONS of phlox pilosa and some of the fall blooming asters (native plant that I can't remember the name of at the moment)! I've seen lots of babies out in the garden and the phlox pilosa has spread like crazy!
Both very good plants Cheryl.
I try to bring something new also. A few years ago it was phlox pilosa. This year I am not sure yet. I see a lot of prairie verbena seedlings coming up. When I winter sowed them last year I only got 3 plants and now there are dozens of seedlings around.
Oh my goodness, please save me some of that prairie verbena, I need it very much.
I will try to have something wonderful for you!!!
Josephine.
Well of course! The only question is how big will they be and how many will I have. I did enjoy them last year and this year I noticed they sprawled out over a larger area.

When is the RU?
We are trying to figure that out Sylvia, we hope to know soon.
I want some prairie verbena too! Hope you bring some to the RU. Marty
I hope someone has some more Black and Blue. :) oh yeah different mints and herbs. :)

Sounds like prairie verbena will be popular. I would like some, too, if you can mass produce it! :)
Let's not count our plants before they hatch or something like that. Right now I have some small seedlings. Time will tell how they turn out.
C
You are right Cheryl.
I'm starting some seeds so hopefully I will have plants to bring to swap. Where's RU this year?
We should know soon.
Ugh! I keep looking at the prairie verbena seedlings and now after seeing a pic of some standing cypress seedlings I don't know which I have!
Hey everyone!!!! I just posted the date and planned place for the spring round up! Hop over and let me and Josephine know if you will be there please. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1239867/
I have been out in my GH today. I have several things that I up-potted. I am also very pleased that I will have some extras for the RU. I know I will have a couple Ruellia elegans 'Brazillian Red' to share and as long as all goes well I'll have a Pride of Mediera and a few Passiflora edulis as well.
It looks like I may have a few bat face cuphea to share. maybe some Carolina Moon Vine.
I'll take a bat face cuphea, please.
Aaah! I love that plant. I would love one too. This is going to be a very random trade thread!
This is not the trade thread, so keep notes and add them when the thread gets going.
Update!!! Josephine put the trade thread up already.....go here please. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1240847/
