This photo was taken on May 22, 2009 in McClennan County (southwest of Waco), Texas, in a rural setting. The bird was perched on an unoccupied Martin house. It is a very awful photo taken with a low-quality camera at distance (bad combo), but I'm hoping to get some input as to the ID. It seems like it should be a female grosbeak of some variety. It seems too large, the breast too light, and there appears to be a head stripe to be a Blue Grosbeak(most common there). There doesn't appear to be any breast striping, so I'm thinking that Rose-breasted Grosbeak is out. Could it be a Black-headed Grosbeak? It would be during migration, so anything is possible. Please, give me your thoughts.
Thanks,
Missy
CLOSED: Grosbeak
Sorry, too small and blurred to make anything definite of it. Hard even to rule out House Finch from these pics!

Thanks for having a look at it, Res.
