I have a raised bed hoop garden. It is screened two feet under the soil, but somehow a mole found its way in. I was smoothing out the soft soil he had mounded and in addition to numerous worms I found these reddish brown colored, segmented pupae-looking things. They are about the size of maggot pupae, but I had not noticed many flies in the hoop house. Am I about to be infested by some terrible insect?
Pupae in soil: Are you a good witch or a bad witch?
What if you put them in some soil in a screen covered container and brought them indoors to "spring-like" temperatures and see what hatches?
They are in the kitchen now!
I think they are grubs
Good chicken treats!
