One of the beutiful photos! I've seen those but never have I grown them before. Arlene, can they tolerate some moisture with regular irrigation?

Thanks, Kim. I give mine no special attention and they get watered three times a week by our irrigation system.

They bloom here in very early June.

Here's what the roots look like:

Thanks Arlene for sharing that priceless picture of the plant's tuber. I just acquired one from a local nursery. Look like I'm going to get a few more in the near future.

From what I've heard from friends, dig a hole, make a mound and place the roots over the mound to keep the roots headed downward, not outward.

I understand they're very difficult to transplant so put them where they'll stay. Now I wish I knew that when I planted them because some bloom in the garden at the wrong time to match any other blooms so I may be forced to try and move them (and hopefully not stab nearby lilies).

Thank you Arlene for the additional infomartion. I was wondering how those octopus-like roots system works. Now I do, they go downward and not spreading outward like a spreading hand. Now the leaves, I understand they're slender like that of daffodyls, do they cease to turn brown and floppy once the blooms are spent?

I planted the first ones in the octopus fashion!

It's so crowded where the foxtail lilies are that I never even noticed any part of the plant after it bloomed. Sorry!

Thank you, I'll keep touch via dmail, and let you know how mine turns out. Over and out.
