O/P Kermit type Eggplant?

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Im looking for a Kermit type Thai Eggplant that is O/P. Last year I got some in a swap and also bought seeds for a small green eggplant from Baker Creek. I just got their new catalog and the small, Thai, green Eggplant all sound very similar. I was just wondering if anybody knows if there is an equivalent to the Kermit, which to my understanding is a Hybrid. THANKS

Kermit is listed as a hybrid version of Thai Round Green. Evergreen has both varieties. http://www.evergreenseeds.com/oregtharoun.html

Thanks Farmerdill, to the rescue again. Bakercreek has them too and that was what I bought last year, but they all sound very similar.

What is the different in taste from a classic purple eggplant to the green one you are talking about?

I don't really know. I sell the plants and last year I couldn't grow enough of the Kermit Type O/P. These are Thai eggplants and the friut is about the size of a golf ball. They are light green and striped. I have a few customers who make green curry with them. In the Baker Creek catalog there are about 5 that say Thai Round Green so I'll have to check to see that I get the right one. Drthor-do you mean Black Beauty?

Completely different you should look at rareseeds.com. They have probably 50 different types from all over the world. If nothing else it's just interesting. They have seeds for eggplant from Africa, Japan, Turkey just to name a few. I love how they look I would grow them all if I could. Last year I grew Thai Purple Egg, Thai Yellow Egg, and Thai White Ribbed. But the Kermit type out sold the rest 20-1

I received Thai Green Pattern Eggplant seeds last year in the Tomato Swap and planted them this summer. They sound similar to what you are all describing - small, round, green with a bit of a stripe. They germinated quite easily and produced small, round, green eggplants as described. They had a wonderful flavor but I had to be careful not to let them get too ripe or they became tough and seedy. The first ones I let go too long because I didn't know what the maximum size should be. They taste better smaller. I will grow them again this summer. I mainly sliced and then sauteed them in olive oil with seasoning.

I got those too. If you look in the Bakerseed Catalog rareseeds.com they have about 5 that are discribed as such and look like the ones in the link Farmerdill posted above. Now Im wondering what the difference is they all say Thai Round Green ______. I guess Ill call them.
