Flower buds?

Can anyone describe what Epi flower buds resemble?

Barry- There are many shapes and sizes for epi buds. Experience will teach you what to look for. The attached picture is for Mor Mor which has an extra large bloom.

This is Ackermani buds which has a medium size bloom. Buds will always come in the indentions found along the stem border. Each indention will provide one bloom as the plant matures.

Thank you very much orchidman1 and plantsforpeg.... I still need a couple more years along with the decent epi growing conditions. All my older plants are developing new stems, not flower buds.... :( Ohww well, I just need to be patient!

Barry: You get a lot of advice on foruims, some, not so good. I'm giving you this link because I believe that it has consistently provided me with the information that I needed most to grow my orchid cactus. Best of luck!

Thanks orchidman1.... F.Y.I., I've seen that website in the past since I've been growing epis since 2004 or 5 and 'yes' it does explain quite a bit but in my climate (zone 5) I just need to wait until my plants become too large to manage in a sense. I guess I was just expecting something interesting to appear on my plants.... Time will tell or show!!

Thanks again orchidman1....
