Saw 2 hawks yesterday that caught my attention -- one because it was so dark and one because it was so white. I'm pretty sure that they are both red-tailed hawks even though one of them has a white tail. Both have prominent belly bands.
I'll start with the dark one.
I was waiting for this truck to pass to take a pic and when it passed it blasted its horn at me. The horn scared the bird and it got temporarily caught in the wire. Freed itself eventually and flew off. I think it was OK.
Last one of the dark red-tailed hawk before it figured out how to get free.
Here is the light colored one that had a white tail (top and bottom).

Yep, I'd agree both Red-tails. They're very variable!
