For a number of weeks, a family in Oak Park, IL has been hosting a hummingbird. The little guy and family has had a lot of press nationally. Today they successfully trapped the bird. Here are pictures about the measurement process. Very interesting.

Thanks for posting this. Sure is interesting and I'm glad they were finally able to trap it. They sure had great photos of all the different procedures they performed.
Yes, the whole scientific part is fascinating.
Now called "Opie", the Oak Park Hummingbird has been identified genetically as a female. Parentage still TBD.
