I just want to confirm this because we've never, ever seen this behaviour before, nor see just three at once. Usually, we do not see them in the snowy months and when they arrive in the spring, there are dozens, if not hundreds.

Sometimes happens that odd birds of migratory species fail to migrate; often, their prospects are not good but they can survive if they find a good food source. Sibley's map shows you're on the northern edge of where they normally winter, so I'd guess these will be alright unless the winter is very severe.

I too, have a Grackle this year, but mine looks injured though. One of it's wing is hanging a bit low. It can still fly up in the tree.
Thank you for your replies. They sure were cold, with the temp at 21F. There was a windchill, but I did not want to know what it was.
These birds did look so pathetic that I couldn't help but feel sympathy for them.
