Hello To all my Texas Buddies

Dallas, TX

Believe it or not but I have missed you. The last two years have been the most miserable of times. I refuse to digress except for this month of November. I know most of you remember my first hip replacement experience, it was horrible! I was in so much pain ... the pain pills had me so dazed, if I did not have you guys to get me through it I would have left everything there.Thank God for you guys, you were right there to help me through it. Moving over 200 potted plants, digging up plants in the ground, it was unbelievable, the ground was so barren. About a year I stopped by to visit the guy who moved in there, just to see if anything came up. he said a lot of plant came up especially the Clemitis. He had them in pots and asked me if I wanted them. I said Oh No! It just did my heart good to know someone was enjoying them. The only thing I was upset about was that he chopped down my Mimosa tree, but I still manage to bring another with me a DGER had sent me from California. When Patrob said she was bringing the horse carts or what ever to move the plants I had no idea what she was talking about ... all the way from Houston. It was Hilarious all the neighbors came out to see. I dont think they ever witness a moving party like that. lol
Anyway I just had right hip replaced, It was a cinch! After I got home I had Vertigo so bad, I could not stand up. Its a strange thing, you dont know you are falling until you find yourself trying to get up. After several gashes in my head and bruised shoulders trying to avoid hitting my hip I decided I need to call the paramedic.(did you know it cost 1200.00 for the paramedics to come get you?) to take me to the emergency room. I stayed in the ER all night before they decided to admit me AGAIN, another four days ... then so more doctors could see me they sent me to Rehab ... another four days. They wanted me to stay two weeks, but I had to go home to my babies (Sedric and Sara). Also six staples were found in my hip that should have been removed along with the other ten by the home health nurse, this caused hysteria! ( this nurse got canned) The rehab had me on all these machines before they found out I was 50% wheel bearing(?) more hysteria! I think they were glad I signed my self out. lol
I hope I managed to entertain you guys for a while. :)
Sheila where is she? I forgot her name.

Good to hear from you, and to know you have survived the medical misadventures.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh my goodness. Sylvia you are a tough lady to survive so much mistreatment. I am a firm believer that if one is not sick when they go into the hospital they sure will be when they leave. Did they discover the reason for the vertigo?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Bless you Sylvia, we have missed you too. Sheila is doing fine but has been very busy with Herman's back surgery. He is better now, thank God.
I am sorry you have had so many problems, life is really tough sometimes. I am glad you are doing better, please take good care of yourself and stay in touch.
Josephine.

Here I am!! ((waving))) ....Like Josephine said I have been on a medical roller coaster with Herman since 9-12 this year. During a surgery to replace two disc, the L-3 verterbrae was fractured and he had to undergo a second surgery the next week. Lots more problems between then and now....but bottom line he is doing fairly well now. So glad your second replacement went well. I have bouts of vertigo and know how distressing that can be. Christi....my dr said it is from crystals in the inner ear breaking loose and shifting...??
It is sometimes upsetting to see a place we loved let go when we are gone. Glad to know the clematis is growing for the new person. I bet you had a lot of stuff come up from seeds and roots left. It was a great little place until that large building went up next door!

Hey guys who is the DGer in the picture? Sheila, they ruled out my ears. One ENT told me about something drying out in the brain and to drik plenty of water. One said too much BP medication I am totally of BP med and Imiprimine. I didn't need the bp med anyway.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia that sweetie with you is Maggiemoo, sorry I forgot her real name.

Thanks Josephine. I came across her picture and wondered where she disappeared too. I think she lived around Conroe somewhere. She was sweetheart, she is the one that got me involve in Texas gardening. I was only into Hostas when I met her. :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, you are right, she is a sweetheart, I can't believe I forgot her real name, I don't think she is a subscriber any longer and she did live in Conroe.

Mary wasn't it?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes Sheila, I think you are right.

Welcome back Sylvia!

Dallas, TX

Thanks Guys, it great hearing from you.
I went to see my surgeon yesterday. All that falling from the Vertigo broke off a little piece from my new hip. He says he dont see reason to go back in but I got to get X rays monthly so he can watch it. He did transfer me to the Cane, but caution me to be very careful.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Vertigo is a bad guy Sylvia, it comes to visit me once in a while and I really dread it.
Thank God I have never fallen but it sure is unpleasant and scary.
Josephine.

I have experienced vertigo too. The last couple of years, it comes and goes. ...got to learn to keep a level head with that one...and I have never been level headed!! LOL!

Dallas, TX

Well I will have you guys know one of those vertigo fall put a crack in my new hip! Even though I didn't fall on the hip, the fall was too soon after the surgery. He did place me on the Cane anyway, but I got to have xrays every month until he see how it heals.
Go figure! :)

Sylvia, you are a mess! You need someone to live in and care for you sounds like. I do hope you are writing down the medications as you take them and one is something for the vertigo. Hope you heal correctly this time....and no more falling!
Herman had another surgery last Thursday, this time it was two hernias. You too need to stop this and make next year a surgery free year!
Merry Christmas!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh No! Didn't know Herman had another complication. And you, Sylvia. After a certain age it is just patch, patch, patch.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

He got a good report from the neurologist on his back and is doing a lot better now. He will start therapy again in January.

Dallas, TX

Oh my... and Herman look so good on FB. It do seem like every year Sheila, but I think its been two years now. The first one and the revision was almost a year apart. What year did I move? Oh well, it dont matter I dont remember too much anyway. lol
Christie you are so right about patching. I was hoping I would be able to run a marathon with two good hips. lol When the nurse ask me to put my weight on my good hip, I get totally confused. I never got use to using the left hip properly. lol More so I got learn to use the cane with my left hand. Its a great world if you dont weaken!
But at least the Vertigo is gone ... for now. I stop taking the BP medicine because its the culprit!. The doctor asked me what I wanted to do about my BP, I told him nothing, I am not smoking anymore! If I dont smoke, my BP is perfect.
If any of you are on BP medicine, be sure your doctor know what he is doing because I read in the AARP journal these doctors dont know very much about BP. So if you had bad morning or night and pop in the DO, please dont let him take your BP.
These scripts are expensive, I got three I cant use!

Sylvia, upon reading my above post it seems I am accusing you of being "a certain age". I believe I'm just a bit ahead of you, therefore, I can make that statement from personal experience. I think you moved in late 07 or early 08. I had back surgery, Aug, 08 and I think you first hip surgery was shortly after that. Now remember, my memory comes and goes so don't hold me to it.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Don't have a clue about when the surgery happened, but I do know that you needed surgery the RU you followed me to College Station for. That date was April 2006. Maybe that will help, also you can do a search in DG under Texas Gardening for "help Sylvia move". I bet you will get the thread to pop up.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

That was easy to find....here is the link to the October 2006 move!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/662131/?hl=help+sylvia+move
