We've not put up any bird houses, not really ready to deal with the house sparrow and wren issue at this time. But a friend got me this:

I only learned recently that birds will use houses to roost in the cold months. Do you think this one would be a good one to try? I'd like to be able to use it in some way since it is from a good friend. We have a hook on the front porch, which is sheltered form the northwest winds. In our climate, I can see it would not be good for summer months since it is black and I could foresee it turning into an oven.
Thank you for any help.
A Buggy House
I can't really answer your question.....but it so cute I would just use it as a decorative item inside! Would love one myself!
It is cute, but I agree about it probably roasting the poor chicks in the summer.
