collecting salvia seeds

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I am collecting seeds from my salvia greggiis'. Some seeds are white from obviously dried blooms, although most are black. I started to second guess myself and am wondering if I should be collecting white ones.
Also any helpful hints to collect from Henry Duelberg....Those are some tiny seeds!

Hmm, I am not an expert but I haven't seen any "ripe" white seeds from salvia. If both occur on the same plant my guess would be the black seeds are viable.

The seeds will be black or brown, the problem is that they ripen at different times so they are hard to collect, unless you have a lot of time and patience.
I guess the simplest thing to do is wait till the end of the season, cut the plants and put them in a paper bag with the tops down and give them a good shake, that way you are likely to get a few viable seeds.

That sounds a little easier than holding the dried flower and shaking it into an envelope! The different ripening times do make for difficult collection. Thanks!
I was also wondering if the seeds come true to the plant...after all, isn't that what the birds and the bees are all about?

There will always be some variation but it depends on the species as to how much.
