Sorry, but I doubt that this is crocus sativus - the stigma should not be branched further and of deep orange red color. And as Crocus Sativus is a sterile clone, there can't be any variation!

This is not crocus sativus. It appears to be a colchicum, which is toxic and deadly. Colchicum is also confusingly called autum crocus. This picture should be recategorized to prevent any confusion.

sorry, riverain, it'definitely no Colchicum, those have 6 anthers, crocusses 3 (like all Irids) Crocus is a big Genus with about half the species flowering in fall. I don#t doubt this being a fall crocus, I just doubt it being Crocus sativus
