He seems a little better as far as the limping.I put him in the big coop today for a few hours and he did move around a lot more,went outside and walked around took a dirt bath,ate and sun bathes.He feathers are very ragged looking and he is still losing some,isn`t he to young to molt?6 months old. I am going to post some pics of his legs
The leg on the right still looks bigger than the other,does it to you?
They look deformed here but when he walks on them they spread out like normal.I have looked for bumble foot and can`t see anything swollen on the bottom of the foot.When he tried to run you can hear his feet slapping the ground and the others don`t have a sound when they run.Has anyone run into this problem?I am still keeping him in a cage only because I can give him extra things like vit.in his water and eggs,meal worms and somtime yogurt and some BOSS.Other than the leg thing he seem fine.

Could his feathers just be ruffled from living in a smaller cage? In any event your care seems to be helping him; I hope he is appreciative!
The legs don't look to be a different size, they are just at a different angle. He looks and it sounds like he has survived Mereck's. He is a lucky one indeed.

If you think that is what it was can I use him for breeding next spring and would he pass on that resistence of Mereck`s to his babies and woujld that keep them form getting it,kinda like having his chcks vaccinated for it?I have heard of people doing this.
I don't know that... Some breeds are just more prone to it. I don't think the immunity is passed on to chicks.. I haven't had a roo have it, so I don't know for sure.
I have two roos who are (I think) survivors. One is a huge lemon blue Cochin, the other a Turken. The Cochin has his own harem, and is confined with them, the Turken is part of the Ranger Gang, so anything goes. In spring, I'll hatch from the Cochin, but hopefully there won't be any test of whether or not the babies continue the resistance.
Handsome is still hanging in there,he is growing fast and is very big.He is still shaky on his legs,he can`t stay outside for very long,but he is crowing now and his comb and wattles are very red.He still sits a lot and still has his feet out in front on him.He does roost at night.

Handsome is doing very well,he thinks he is quite the ladies man,he is not very good at it because he is so big,he is rough and clumsy,I feel bad for the girls.There is two other roosters in with them about the same age and they are a lot better at it than him.He is going to be one huge rooster when he gets his full growth.He still has a slight limp

My one and only black orp,she handsomes sister and big like him.I have some more opr eggs comming form N.J.,they have english in them and she paid a lot for the eggs a couple years back and offered yes offered me some eggs for free,can`t wait to get them in the incubator,hope the weather is not to cold for them eggs,I am thinking its such a short mailing distance that they will be ok.
This is my blue pullet,she follows me around and talks to me but will not let me pick her up.
Picture I took of handsome a couple days ago.He and the other two roosters had to go to another coop,they were to hard on the girls.So they have there own bachelor pad untill spring and are doing fine.

Awwww, Handsome is just that! One good thing about all this is that , the other chickens accept him. If he had a problem so serious that he just couldnt make it, the other chickens would make sure that he didnt! Apparently he is just going to be fine!! Yaaay!
