This is a fall blooming Gladiolus.
Gladiolus priorii
Beautiful gladiolus goldenfish. How tall does it get?
Thank you Cem9165 !
It is about 18-24 in tall.
Very lovely, Do you know the species name?
Thank you soilsandup,
The species name is Gladiolus priorii. Wild species in south Africa.
Now I feel foolish - I did not notice the title of your thread.
I wonder if they sell it here in the US??
soilsandup,
I couldn't find the bulbs being sold in the US.
You can buy seeds at B and T World Seeds. Not in the US though...

Beautiful Glad!
You get some awesome plants over there!!
Wonderful flowers, goldenfish!
I received some seed through the NARGS seed exchange. I remember a few seeds sprouting this past spring, but they went dormant in only about a month's time. This seems to be normal for G. atroviolaceus seedlings; I hope it is for piorii, too. Of course, the pot is not left outside through my winter!

Hello Rick,
The other day, I also sawed a few kind of Gladiolus seed without waiting for spring.
It would be too cold though, I thought longer growth period is better.
Did your seedlings come out again, didn't them?
How did you take care of them after dormant?
I've made that mistake before.
Over the rest of the summer, the pot just stayed along with the rest of potted materials, most with growing plants in them. I never made a point of watering the glad pot when I watered the other pots nearby, but it did get some water, along with natural rainfall. They did not emerge again, though I would expect them to until next season. The pot is now dry and in the refrigerator for the winter.
I really don't know what I am doing. Species gladiolus information is difficult to find. I would appreciate any insight and advice you might have.
G. flanniganii seedlings are much more vigorous, and I am treating the same way. Again, any advice is appreciated.
Rick
