We've had a series of earthquakes in central Oklahoma over the past few days. Ran across an article and radar image that shows birds and bugs took flight when the earthquake occurred. I found it particularly interesting because our cockatiel peaches escaped her cage when she should have been sleeping when the two bigger tremors happened. Stands to reason - if a roosting bird feels a sudden jolt on its perch, it'll assume it is a predator, and fly off.
