I have 3 brugs that a friend gave me last fall. She had given me 4, but I gave one to another friend. I overwintered them inside, 2 in my enclosed porch, and 2 in my cellar. Gave one to a friend in the spring. Anyhow, one bloomed for me, my first ever! I was so tickled. Wish the other 2 could have bloomed as well, but maybe next year. I just wanted to share the pics I took of her. Don't know her name, all 3 are NOID's, but that's okay.

My first brug blooms from back in
Oops! I just noticed I didn't finish the title of my thread. Meant to say from back in Sept. Anyhow, did not get a second flush on these. I was surprised at how long the blooms lasted. Brugs are awesome!

Lovely blooms Karen. Aren't brugmansias such a lovely plant? ;)
very pretty..
Thanks, you two. Yes, brugs are gorgeous. I would love to have many more. Maybe someday.
Karen
They look great, I know how you feel, I know how I felt with my first bloom, that year I ended up with 104 plants, now I have 4 new seedlings that I just got.
I had a heart attach last year and my children decided I needed to get rid of all the work ( bringing them in and out) but I realy miss them so I started collecting again. I will be 86 this July so I better not get as many as befor.
I do have this one that Chocolat brug named after me, she is registered. her name is Miss Doris
Oh, how wonderful, Doris! I love it. How nice to have one named after you. I wish you many happy years of brug blooms, and lots of them. You are inspiring me to get more. I do have the room if I store them down in my cellar for the winter.
Karen
Doris almost 86 ? what a great inspiration you are !
Just goes to show what our beautiful Brugs can do for you,
Congratulations !
A beautiful Brug like that named after you ?, you must be a very special lady ^_^
Karen it's so nice to watch the reactions to actually a gardener seeing a Brugmansia bloom for the first time, it's something no one ever forgets, and of course after that, one is never enough !
LOL! Chrissy, I know, one of anything is never enough. I'm a terrible daylily addict. Not sure how deep I'll get into it with the brugs, as they aren't as easy as the daylilies, but we'll see. I don't have as much room for them, either.
Karen
Hi, Karen
I didn't know you had brugs! I should have guessed they put on a beautiful display. Do you grow any doubles?
Teresa in Ky
No doubles, Teresa, and I only have 3 NOIDs, and only one has bloomed so far. I'm hoping my other 2 will bloom this year.
Karen
Oh they will most of the time they bloom the first year that they Y.
So my two brug cuttings are in week two and putting out new leaves, started to give a bit of fertilizer and am waiting to put them into the ground to be sure I find the exact right spot. Maybe in another week I'll plant them in garden, after that how many months will it take to reach full height and bloom? Trying to be patient, but I have no idea.
Judy it is the Y you need befor they bloom, once you see the stem make a Y then it can bloom anytime, and a good indication is when one side of a leaf grows longer than the other then it is definately setting buds. Good luck.
Judy, have fun with those brugs. Only one of mine "Y"ed last year. Hoping the other 2 will do it this year for me. They make such beautiful, fragrant flowers.
Karen
Doris, that choco brug looks so delicious! lol. My sister with cancer says DO MORE OF WHAT YOU LOVE!
I too am a daylily addict but I am just so drawn to those huge blooms of a brug. I just love the curly tendrils and the doubles!
Teresa in KY
It's easy to get hooked on them, but I know I won't, as I just don't have the time or space. It's a lot of work lugging them in for the winter and back out for the spring. I can't imagine doing that with a lot of them. My 3 are enough as it is, them and the one big crinum lily that a friend gave me, the same friend who gave me the brugs.
