Summer's Dream

Here is my hanging basket brug just 2 days ago in the greenhouse. It had buds when I took it in, and couldn't bear to cut it back then............it rewarded me with this gorgeous show. Yes, I suppose I will have to prune. LOL BUT...........I have another large hanging basket, so may start another for that one, since I can't seem to find another cultivar suitable for basket growth.

Good job! nice color what a basket how heavy is that?

It's a 24 inch "Hanging Garden" from Kinsman Gardeners...........not all that heavy as I have a lighter soil mix in it........I think most of it is MG as opposed to what I mix up that has compost and sand in it which would make it heavier. I can lift and carry it.

Anna,
Kenboy had one, Orange Sunshine, which lent itself to basket culture, but it disappeared a few years ago. I found out a few days ago that it disappeared because it was diseased. Brugs are really large shrubs. Not usually the sort of plant used in baskets although if you can find ones that exhibit a more compact growth, you might be able to grow it in a basket for a few months before you have to start over again or repot.

They do look gorgeous that way. I don't think I'd try it though. My back wouldn't let me, not after my back surgery.

Very pretty, Anna. Too bad more of them do not lend themselves to that kind of culture.
