Year 2 and full of blooms

Fort Wayne, IN

I purchased this 2 years ago and I can't believe how it blooms for me. I keep it outside during the summer in a protected spot from sun and wind and just kind of ignore it, as soon as I brought it in this fall it started budding. Its called "Pandora Rose" I think I got it at Sams club and for sure I'm going to be looking for them this year. Its the prettiest pink I've ever seen.

This is one I've had for years and the poor thing has been so neglected. this year I changed the soil before I brought it in for the winter and it even rewarded me with blooms. Needless to say. "mama is happy" This one is called "Thor Nille"
at least thats what the label says.

I have several large ones that are in bud but no blooms as yet. I've had trouble this year with several of my very large schlums breaking apart at ground level--like they got to heavy or brittle. I've planted them separately but will miss the large mass of bloom I had before. bob

They are beautiful. I don't think mine are blooming yet. I will check the greenhouse later today.

I ordered on Ebay some Christmas and Easter cactus from England. The ad showed a platter of cuttings and I couldn't wait to receive my package. I actually received from them, all the way from England now, three one-segment cuttings which did in fact have a very small root on them. How disappointing. I went back and checked the ad and found it was accurate, even though misleading. I can't imagine anyone selling several small one segment plants from that distance. Only on Ebay. I have no respect for them any longer. bob

Some of the people who sell on ebay are really deceiving. I've been taken a few times when I was buying epi cuttings.

What a beautiful setting, and your Thanksgiving cactus tops it off, perfectly.

I get the biggest kick out of Schlumbergera sellers on ebay. There is barely a plant over there that isn't listed as "rare" or "very hard to find." Right now there is a bid on Aspen for $49.00. I got mine earlier in the year from Logees for $11.95.

Sometimes, when a particular cultivar stops selling well, or they have a NOID, they just change the name/give it a name and put it out there as "rare." There is definitely a collector's market for Schlumbergera, but I think you have to do your research and be smart about buying.

What beautiful blooms! I love looking at everyone's pics. I have nothing blooming, right now. :o(
Bob, that red looks so festive, with that wonderful Christmas tree in the back ground.
Inda, your closeup, on the black background is GREAT! Sure is a pretty flower.
