Your bonsai are beautiful. May I ask how old they are?

I created most of my bonsai this spring and summer from nursery stock. One Japanese maple bonsai I created was over five feet tall and I turned it into a bonsai that is 1.5' tall. I root prune the root ball to get it down to size to fit in the bonsai pot. I prune the tree to bring out the inner bonsai. Bonsai is a source of therapy for me. I did all the landscaping in my yard myself, but then I had a herniated disk and a tear in another disk. Needless to say, I could not do much of anything. Bonsai became the perfect solution for me during my recovery.

JT1, what's a fine, fine specimen you've created! Thank you for sharing your photos with me/others fortunate viewers at DG.

I just had to come back and take a look again! I'm just in awe at how beautiful these are! Amazing.
I have an 8-9 year old key lime citrus that I have tried to bonsai over the years. I'll post a picture soon...maybe you can give me some advice? :)

Thank you! I created a gallery on Flickr of all my bonsai creations. I am self-taught (I just took all my knowledge of growing and maintaining plants in the landscape and applied it to bonsai) and it’s a good source of therapy for me. Some say I should sell them, but I tend to get attached. Something’s got to give. I am starting to run out of room for all my creations :-)

I have two bonsai galleries on the right side of the page along with my garden galleries. I hope you enjoy!

Let me know if I can be any help with your bonsai. I only have one citrus bonsai, which reminds me that I need to get a picture of it.
