sick sage; what is wrong?

Donna - sage doesn't like too much water, might that be the problem. I have sage growing all over the place, and I never water it! It doesn't like too much fertilizer, either. I fertilizer mine in the spring, right after I cut it back to the ground.

that's what i suspected (but i did not want to lead the witnesses). my plot has a high water table, and we have had a wet wet wet fall. i think i will grow it in a clay pot in the garden so i can lift it up if the soil is saturated. i just hope it survives to be repotted.

6aseeder - yes, all that rain sounds like the problem with your sage. If it dies, you'll find them offered for sale in local nurseries next spring. I purchased my original from W-mart several years ago.

certainly not too cold for sage here. i will just start another from seed if this one doesn't make it; i still have seeds.
