I am leaning toward the Vesper sparrow, but have had the Song Sparrow fool me too many times this summer. The white malar and eye-ring just do not look right for a Song. It bathed and ate on the ground under our feeders. After getting a couple pictures I watched it and noticed a bit of white under the wings when it was preening, if that helps any.
If it is a Vesper, this is a lifer and makes watching all those house sparrows worthwhile. :)
