normal or not is my question....

Larsen, WI(Zone 5a)

My plumerias are all inside at this time. What I have noticed is that the stem or trunk is becoming wrinkly like it needs water. I would rather not water them since the leaves have not dropped yet. Is this normal or should I do something that I haven't tried before?

Please let me know ; )

I bring mine in and let them go dormant. I stop watering, the leaves all fall off and the trunks do get a little wrinkly. Since I'm in Cleveland Ohio, they come in when the nights start dropping into the 40's. My oldest plumeria is over 20 years old. I have 4 very large, old plants and I use this method on all of them. During the winter I give each 1-2 cups of water per month and store them in my cool utility room. They do get some light, but my part of Ohio is very overcast all winter. Without water though, they stay dormant until I put them back outside in mid spring.

Hope this helps.

The heat indoors can make them dehydrated. I would water normally until the leaves drop and then you can water more sparingly after that.
