Help on ID

Livingston, TX(Zone 8b)

I working on birds of prey ID, I still need help. I am guessing Kestrel or Immature red shouldered hawk. He is small like a kestrel and makes the little chirping sounds. I am in Livingston, Tx. East texas.

Thanks, he was in a live oak tree right in front of my house. I live right across the street from the National forest. Do you think he was bedding down for the night. I did not bother him at all walking around taking pictures.

Great pictures! You're more likely to see Kestrels perched on electrical wires along the roadway. Or on top of things out in the open.
