CLOSED: Gilded Flicker? or Red-shafted?
I would say this is an intergrade/mix between Red-shafted and Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker's. Gilded would be out of your range. Do you have any pics showing the undertail?
Red-shafted for me - the malar stripe is all red (black in Yellow-shafted), and the cheek grey (same brownish as above/in front of the eye in Y-s)

I was going by my field guide...which doesn't give to much detail or a pic of a mix between the 2. Agree with Resin if he's leaning towards Red-shafted and thanks for the extra info.
considering probable variations, ... i'm gonna tell mice elf it's a red-shafted , ...
and call this one solved
