I have a good sized clump of rhubarb that I planted last summer. It has expanded and is outgrowing it's space. I'd like to divide it and move the divisions. When is the best time of year to do this? I also have horseradish and would like to divide it also.
What time of year should rhubarb be divided?
Why wouldn't rhubarb be like any other perennial? Horse radish could be done any time you want to process it couldn't it? It is individual roots.
Sorry, I haven't given you any answers, just more questions.
I'm sure there is more than one answer to this, but I've always been told not to dig mine up for transplanting until the spring when it first starts to come up.
Thanks for your comments. I'll wait until spring.
You can dig horseradish in the fall after it's reached its second year. Harvest up to half the roots and replant the rest.
