How soon can I plant daffodils

I have two packages of daffodils; we are having a very cool Sept. now; when can I plant them?

Thanks, tommy, I will do just that. Last year I made out like a bandit with Lowes' day after Thanksgiving sale. They only have about a third of the stock they had last year. But I have
splurged for four summers and falls. The earliest ones are already clumps! Last year at
Lowes' I bought some camis (campsis) bulbs. Lewis and Clark along with their Indian friends
survived on them during the hard winter. They are blue and lovely and multiply fast, I am told.
They bloom after regular bulbs.
