I have the biggest armadillo I've ever seen that has made a huge hole and mess in my garden bed -- next to our house. It's not the vegetable garden... there's just a crepe myrtle and other bushes close by.
At first I couldn't figure out what-on-earth could have made such a mess... then I heard some rustling in the trees near by and saw this HUGE guy.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of him..??.. I think I remember hearing that you can put "chili pepper" in and around the hole... any other suggestions..??..
Many thanks...
HUGE armadillo in my garden
This is armadillo season. Late summer and early fall is when they start stirring around.
What they are attracted to is grubs and bugs in the areas that are watered and tilled.
I never objected to them as they manage to loosen the soil and then when (or if) it should rain, the soil absorbs more moisture.
There are armadillo traps that some folks swear by. I've not used them.
If you lived closer, I'd loan you Pod. He runs them down and kills them.
I didnt realize this was Armadillo season. Ive seen evidence of them around here, but the ground is so rocky and hard (no rain) I cant imagine they're getting much. None of my critters pay any attention to them.
