It looks like the Black and Blue Salvia http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54031/
I love that plant even with it's invasive growth in my area.

I think it is beautiful. I grew one very similar this year called deep blue I got from swallowtail seeds. I was wondering if it was the same plant. Anyway I saved some seeds, and plan to grow it again. It was a favorite of the hummers, and bumble bees!

Yes, it is Black Blue Salvia. The hummers go nuts over it. Definitely a favorite. It dies back it our area over the winter.

It dies back here too, but it has what look and feel like black walnuts on the roots; I don't think it would ever die completely1 I have loads of babies to share at swaps in the eary spring/summer.

Those do very well here, each year they seem to get more robust!
