Growing mints indoors

I'm wondering how much sun they need? My windows face east and get a little winter morning sun, but we are right in the middle of the woods. I have peppermint, apple mint and chocolate mint. I also want to try catnip indoors. Any advice?

Can they be potpound? Do they need clay pots?
