YIKES!!!

Medina, OH

Planted some swamp milkweed this summer. While ambling around the garden I noticed that the two plants are INFESTED with aphids.
I sprayed heavily with Safer and shall repeat as needed. Is this normal? Anything more I can do? Thanx!

Well, yes, the aphids like the swamp milkweed. I find a good hosing with water knocks them off and then I repeat that again and again. I don't use the other remedies because I like the monarchs to lay eggs on mine, etc.

I plant my swamp milkweed in kind of remote parts of the yard just because of the aphids (and these plants get a little ugly later in the summer) and the monarchs still find them.
