can anyone help ID this cat for me?
Cat ID
Never mind :)
I found it's a Gulf Fritilliary. My PV is COVERED in them!!! Yeah!!!!
Yeah!!! Wonderful to know you have a good crop of the GFs. They are just starting here. If you have too many you can transport some to me, I have the evergreen and it is doing pretty good in the heat.
Thanks Sheila :) You gave me some of the Blue Crown. That's the evergreen one right? That might be the one they are on. I planted 3 kinds together and forgot to mark which ones were which :( One was Blue Crown, one was one I got from Dennis and I forgot what the other one was altogether. I think the one I got from Dennis is called wooly PV or something like that. One of them is giving me some nice volunteers too. I've pulled up 4 good sized ones yesterday. If it is the evergreen one that would be great as my neighbor wants one of those.
Is PV pipevine?
I would use them as bait to catch something I could use.
Tina~sorry, PV is PassionVine. Your right PV is usually used for PipeVine, sorry.
Micheal~ shaking my head at you.....lol
That's perfectly all right as you know how much I despise caterpillars cause it usually means they are eating away that which I have spent so much time and money planting. I do not plant for the caterpillars to eat but for myself, family, friends, and the local markets. Butterflies are nice but not enough to let the juveniles destroy my garden.
LOL I understand. How have your crops fared this year?
Poorly and I have scratched this year as a loss!
Oh, that's terrible. I planted 8 kinds of tomatoes and got 0.
I planted some very rare heirloom varieties and the results were less than impressive but better than my onions, garlic, collards, or any of my medicinal flowers. Though i have managed to grow Basil (6 kinds), Hyssop, Anise Hyssop, Sweet Marjoram, and Chicory. The Basil is 4 foot tall and the others are grown together into a mass of green tangled herb garden. Ironically my carrots, Red Ursa Kale, and Swiss Chard are all thriving and I am still getting good pickings from them. Luckily I never plant every seed at once so I still have a few small reserves of most that I lost this year.
Yes Stephanie, the 'blue crown' is the evergreen passiflora.
