I'm wondering how you can tell the sex of a monarch.
I have been watching my monarch cats now for two weeks and they've stripped my bloodflower clean. I have one little cat remaining and nothing for the little feller to eat. I only had a total of seven cats of two different sizes. I feel lucky to experience those with the way its been this year.
I need to know how far a cat will travel to latch onto something to start the process. Do they have a preference out in the woods as far as an oak or hickory tree or another plant. Will they be interested in the siding on my house?
I plan to build a b/f house next season to insure a higher success rate and to learn more about the different stages of life
Thanx for the help
Dave

It is way too late for me to begin explaining all now. I need to get to bed. Look at the "sticky" at the top of the butterfly forum. There you will find a lot of info on several of the links pictured. I will get back on tomorrow, or another one of our regulars will. Nite.
So sorry I dropped the ball. Thanks for following up Bruce. That is a great photo for explaining the difference. I guess it was too late that night for my brain to function. LOL! Here also is a website that is fun for kids especially. It covers a lot of different aspects. http://www.monarchbutterflyusa.com/Cycle.htm
