Old Timey Plant Trade!!! ASAP

Temple, GA(Zone 7b)

I am looking for an Old timey purple lilac. I have some Old Timey Sweet Shrubs that I dug up Sunday and I have so many I want to share. The botanical name is Calycanthus Floridus. These things smell soooooo good whenever they are blooming. They have the deep wine colored blooms. I live in Georgia and I used to see and smell them all of the time as a child, but with all of the building, they are hard to find now. I went on an adventure thru the woods on my dad's new property this weekend and found these. I just love them. Anyone interested please LMK asap becuz I need to send them out so that they can be planted.

Thanks, Traci S

Will they grow here in Michigan? If so I can send you some white and purple lilac shoots!

grows zone 4-9

The data base says Hardy in zones 4-9 so I'm sure they will. Here they are very plentiful in the Great Smokey Mountains. It's cold there alot!! I think you'd do great with them and just a suggestion. I'm gonna plant mine outside of my bedroom window so I can enjoy the smell as much as I can. They aren't blooming now, but when they do crush some of them up in ypur hand and the scent gets stronger. Also makes great Potpourri. I've been told another name for this is Carolina Allspice. Email me with your addy and I'll send one right away!!! Oh also, on the lilac- I already have white so if it's ok, I'd only want the purple.

Thanks, Traci S

Yes it grows zones 4-9. That's what the plant database says. It likes cool climates becuz it is so abundant here in the Smokey Mountains, but it gets really hot here in Ga, so I know it can take the heat too as long as it has some shade.

Thanks, Traci

Hi Traci,

Is there anything besides lilac you'd like to trade for these?

Cheryl

Let me know if you can't see my list - I can see it but not everyone else can.

Yes, I'd like to know if there is any thing else you might want to trade for? For some reason, my lilac bushes don't have suckers! Doris
