Walking Iris, Twelve Apostles (Neomarica caerulea)

Sarasota, FL

Hi! I'm new to the site. (I love love it) I am in zone 9b, Sarasota, FL. Like many other people, I transplanted myself here from the Washington, DC area years ago. Upon researching new stuff to look at in the garden this spring, I found out that irises don't like it here. So. . . I was introduced to the walking iris. How incredibly exciting! I suspected it was special, so I went to the local nursery that usually has "different" plants. No luck. I even stayed up late researching this plant. Didn't know how rare it was. Obsessive as I am, I bought 2 last night one-bay. Should become the proud new owner of 2 in a few days. The anticipation is wonderful. More later.

Key West, FL

Hello. I live in Key West, Florida and have several of these plants. They do wonderfully well here and bloom all year round. Always stay green and healthy. They seem to like semi-shade with a little sun.

Camp Pendleton North, CA

I had bought two walking Iris in a pot and I wonder if it is okay to keep it in a container? I am excited to see the bloom this spring.
