Same or Different?

Arlington, TX

This plant sprung up in the shade. It looks like Ruellia nudiflora, except it's leaves are not as thin or wavy. It is a seedling and in shade but is it the same plant?

This plant is about 4 feet away from the seedling and has been blooming on and off since early summer.

Just throwing this in for fun...
Haven't had this plant growing in this part of the yard for 3 years and in all this dry heat a seedling came up a couple months ago.

Yes, they are both Ruellia nudiflora, and that Rock rose is pretty cute.

I have plucked tons of rock rose seedlings from a spot where I moved the mother plant FIVE years ago!! LOL

This is my first seedling. I admit that I moved the plant to a dryer sunnier bed and it died. This bed is really too small for it but it never got mildew here and seemed happy in part shade with more water, so I will leave this one and just keep it trimmed a bit.

BTW I walked around this morning and found a good number of Ruellia seedlings growing. That makes me happy!
