Here are a couple unknowns I have.
Id's Please
Brandon, the first looks like Lamb's Ear and the second like Jewels of Opar (invasive) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/777/
I think Sheila is right, except his name is Michael.
The first is not Lambs Ear as it is the size of a quarter, smooth leaves and a white powder that rubs off then comes back overnight. They form small colonies and die when you try and transplant or dig up.
Your first plant could be this one Low Everlasting ; http://wildflower.org/gallery/result.php?id_image=21302
the second one is Jewels of Opar I have a ton of them growing in shade and sun
That is what is growing with your Root Beer Plants too :-)
Sorry Michael! Got my names crossed up. So is the first one everlasting?
No it's not everlasting as it never blooms or has any type of flower. They remain as the picture shows then die back in Winter and pop up in Summer in the same spot. I am lost on this one but they seem to grow in this Limestone Chalk quite well. I will search some local data and see if I can locate it.
Well still no luck on pic 1 but I pulled the Jewels of Opar and left the carrot like roots to roast in the sun. It was surprisingly easy to pull out considering the size and that it's been in that spot all year. Now it's just my pretty root beer plant and no anxious flowers trying to steal its water and food.
try posting the other one in the ID thread there is usually someone that can answer what it is
Watch for seedlings on the Jewels of Opar, they spread fast.
they sure do how many ya want of seedlings I have plenty LOL
Back away Phyllis and no one will get hurt! LOL! I don't need that one started again. I bought one a couple years ago and it was on a shelf on the lower deck by the shop. All the plants under it were seeded as well as the gound next to the deck. Though I was never going to get shed of that one.
ROFLAMO Sheila
